It's time to seriously get ready for the fall soccer season. We hope you have completed the previous tasks that we asked you to do in earlier posts. Thank you to those that are done. We understand that some teams have last minute issues beyond their control and are working diligently to get stuff done.

Tournaments

There are quite a few pre-season tournaments which you may be interested in. The registration fees vary depending on the tournament and age divisions, so please go to the websites for details. Although the registration deadline has passed for the Irvine World Cup, they may accept slightly late registrations. Here is a rough list of available tournaments:

Tustin Scrimmage on 8/25: http://www.tustinayso.org/Default.aspx?tabid=856320

OC Kickoff Classic in Irvine on the weekend of 8/18 for girls, 8/25 for boys: http://www.ockickoffclassic.com/

Irvine World Cup on the weekend of 9/1: http://irvinetournaments.gotsport.com/clubsite/?p=10467

Costa Mesa McMillan on the weekend of 9/1: http://www.ayso120.org/Default.aspx?tabid=943384

Coach training

The Area 11Q Supercamp is coming up on 8/18-8/19. The Supercamp will have FREE coach training for the U12, Intermediate, and Advanced levels. All of our Extra coaches (both assistant and head coaches) must minimally have the U12 coaching certification, with older teams requiring higher levels. Keep in mind that these coach training courses must be completed in order, with a wait time before the next training level (eg. you cannot take the intermediate and advanced classes the same month, you must work at the intermediate level for about 3 months before you can take the advanced class). The link to the Supercamp training is https://www.ayso11q.org/coach; this site also provides coaching requirements for each age division. Word is that our governing Section will be very strict about making sure all the coaches have fulfilled the requirements.

Some coaches need to take the online Safe Haven and Concussion training which I think can be accessed at https://aysou.org/default.aspx. All coaches also need to take the Basic referee class once. At this time, I don't see any scheduled referee courses on our website but please check back at http://www.ayso213.org/Default.aspx?tabid=862972
